Green Revolution


              
 
The Green Revolution refer to a set of research and development of technology transfer initiatives occurring between  in 1930 and the late 1960's that increased agricultural production worldwide.
The term "Green Revolution" first used in 1968 by then USAID director William Gaud. They development by Dr. Norman Borlaug. He started the agricultural development in Mexico and made it a success. Dr. Borlaug is called "father of Green Revolution", who received Noble peace Prize in 1970.  Dr. Borlaug was credited with saving over a billion people  from starvation, development of high- yielding varieties of cereal gains, expansion of irrigation infrastructure, modernization of management techniques, distribute of subsidized seeds, synthesis fertilizers and pesticides to farmers.Dr. M.S. Swaminathan was adviser of Ministry of Agricultural and He had invited Dr. Borlaug to India.
In India, increase in population, there was the need to cultivate more area of land. There was once a famine in Bengal in 1943 where 4 millions of people died for want of food. It was shocking to have died so many people for scarcity of food. That was the Government of India  took the initiative to introduce the Green Revolution. Green Revolution was launched in some states of India, there was success and it brought smiles to many hungry farmers of India. The use of mercenaries life tractor, harvesters, threshers and weeding machines simplified cultivation with the advent of the Green Revolution. The implementation of Green Revolution was a boon for many poor farmers of India. Many booming agro-industry came up for manufacturing of mercenaries required for farming. Swaminathan is known for having lobbied with then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri to import 18000 tons of Mexican seed.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh addressed the gathering at the Red Fort on the Independence Day. He was start growth a new Green Revolution to obtain fast agricultural growth. There is little new land available for agricultural development in the Asian Nations, but increased food production is needed to feed the growing population. Farmers will become depends on large bio-tech firms and increased productivity promised by the industry. Farmers are definitely shown Interest In modified crops and expanding of generally modified Bollgard cotton seeds since Monsanto was first allowed to sell them In India in 2002. The Green Revolution is not only made our country self sufficient food-grains but also improved the condition of our farmers. They have started living a comparable life. Thus Green Revolution helped in satisfying the economy of the country.
